Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance scoop ‘Campaign of the Year’ award for their collaboration with Haynes Publishing

Almost 300 guests came together to celebrate the best and brightest from the air ambulance community at the annual Air Ambulances Awards of Excellence on Monday.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance were the proud winners of the ‘Campaign of the Year’ award for the Haynes Air Ambulance Manual, a joint project with Haynes Publishing benefiting Air Ambulances UK with a 75p donation 75p from every copy sold to Air Ambulances UK in support of all 21 air ambulance charities across the UK.

The judging panel were impressed by Dorset and Somerset’s drive to ensure this was more than a manual about their own operations as was first proposed by Haynes Publishing. It not only focusses on the role and operations of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance in significant detail, but also includes interviews with several key figures including ex-naval helicopter pilot, Geoff Newman, who helped found the first air ambulance in the UK and highly regarded clinical specialists who talk about the history of pre-hospital emergency medicine.

Every air ambulance charity has also been included within the manual. True to their brand, they provided a biography, contact information and imagery of their respective aircraft. This highlights the inclusivity of the manual and enables the reader to learn more about their local charity should they wish. The inclusion of all the charity information was crucial as Haynes is a nationally and internationally recognised brand, and the judges gave credit on the night for their dedication for the commitment to ensuring that the current and historical information on the UK’s air ambulance sector was as true and up to date as possible, at the time of the book’s production.

However this publication does not only promote the work of air ambulances across the UK, it uniquely displays so many examples of how the charity funding model fosters innovation and enables the air ambulance sector all to develop in ways that wouldn’t be possible within the public sector

This has concluded in a fantastic publication which highlights the collaboration and partnering that goes on behind the scenes and displays inclusivity at its best.

Congratulations to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance for your well deserved win.

The manual is currently available in the Haynes Black Friday sale via their website.
