Go behind the scenes at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance ‘Virtual Airbase Tour’

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is offering members of the public a behind the scenes tour of its Airbase, followed by a Q&A session on Tuesday 23rd March at 2pm.

Supporters and newcomers to the Charity will have the opportunity to engage in a live Q&A session with one of the Charity’s HEMS Paramedics and hear a firsthand account of life on the front line throughout the pandemic. The Charity will also be updating supporters on operational and fundraising events as well as discussing the implications of Covid-19.

In addition to the talk and Q&A, the Charity is hosting a tour of its Airbase. The Airbase is home to the crew between call-outs, providing the team a space to hold de-briefs, training sessions and store the life-saving medication and equipment. If the on-duty team have not been called out on an emergency mission, participants will also be given a tour of the Charity’s Air Ambulance, the Airbus H135, which sits at the heart of the Charity’s Airbase.

HIOWAA Director of Fundraising, Rachel Leaman, said ‘While we are sadly unable to welcome visitors to our Airbase in person, we are extremely excited to open our Airbase hangar doors, virtually, to even more people than we would otherwise be able to. This is a great opportunity to let our supporters know how important their donations are to our service and to inform newcomers to our charity about the importance of our vital, life-saving work.’

The event is free and open to anyone from corporate supporters or individual donors to people who want to gain a better understanding of the Charity. A Zoom link will be shared with each participant upon sign up, which can be found at www.hiowaa.org
