Insurer’s support for Air Ambulances UK helps save lives and build community resilience

NFU Mutual Agents from specialist insurance agency The Poultry Group have nominated national charity Air Ambulances UK to receive a donation of more than £6,451 from a national £2million ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual.

NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, announced this £2million fund in February 2021 to help local frontline charities.

This follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.

To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, were given the opportunity to nominate charities of their choice to receive a share of the fund. Twenty-six agencies nominated their local air ambulance to receive a donation.

The funds were distributed over 16 weeks from the end of February, offering support as lockdown measures continued to impact our communities.

These donations have enabled Air Ambulances UK to continue making a real difference, save even more lives and remain at the forefront of pre-hospital care, helping to reduce loss of life in people with life-threating injuries or a medical emergency.

Emma Carter, Head of Fundraising and Sustainability at Air Ambulances UK, said “We are incredibly grateful to The Poultry Group for supporting Air Ambulances UK with a grant from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund.

“Air Ambulances UK champions, supports and represents the vital work of 21 air ambulance charities. The generous grant will help enable air ambulance charities across the UK to save even more lives and improve patient outcomes.

“Every day across the UK air ambulances are dispatched to 80+ missions; each mission funded almost entirely by the generosity of local communities. Thank you to both The Poultry Group and NFU Mutual for their support!”

Mike House, Senior NFU Mutual Agent for The Poultry Group, said: “Covid-19 has continued to have a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities.  Air Ambulances UK has been making a wonderful difference to our community during these challenging times, and we feel extremely proud to hear how our support has made an impact.”
