Sign Up for DocBike’s Dorset Ride Out

DocBike has launched online registration for their spectacular Dorset ride out today, which will take place on Sunday 24th September 2023.

DocBike is delighted to confirm the return of their popular annual fundraising event, which will give motorcyclists the opportunity to take part in one of the last ride outs in Dorset this summer, before storing their bikes away for the winter months.

Last year’s event saw over 400 motorcyclists come out in support, raising over £8,000 in aid of the motorcycle injury prevention charity. With the ride out being the charity’s only fundraising event in Dorset, DocBike is hoping that members of the public will once again come out in support, to raise as much funds as possible for the life-saving charity.

This year’s event will once again give participants two ride out routes to choose from, including a 30-mile route from The Churchill Arms in Alderholt to Henstridge Airfield, and a 40-mile route from West Bay Esplanade in Bridport, which also finishes at Henstridge Airfield. Refreshments will be available to purchase at both start locations from 8.30am – 10.00am, with all participants needing to sign in for the ride out by 10.00am.

Participants will be warmly welcomed at the finishing point at Henstridge Airfield with music, refreshments, a fantastic selection of stalls to browse and a grand raffle with some amazing prizes which have kindly been donated by local businesses in Dorset. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, with whom the DocBike’s in Dorset are affiliated, will also be present subject to operational requirements, giving participants the opportunity to meet the crew and have a look around the helicopter.

DocBike receives no direct funding from the Government and relies on the generosity of the public to continue their life-saving work, which puts highly trained trauma doctors or critical care paramedics on two wheels, to reduce deaths and serious injuries on the UK’s roads due to motorcycle collisions.

DocBike is hoping that anyone who registers to take part will also use the opportunity to raise additional funds for the charity by making a donation when registering, raising a minimum of £25 through sponsorship, or by purchasing additional raffle tickets for the grand draw.

Dr Ian Mew, Co-Founder and Trustee of DocBike said:

“This is our big event for DocBike each year and the support of the local motorcycling community means so much to us. We’re dedicated to being there for anyone who needs emergency critical care, but we’re just as passionate about helping bikers to avoid being in a crash by giving them tips and tricks to avoid being knocked off of their bikes.

“I’d like to say a particular thanks to Geoff the airfield owner at Henstridge, for allowing us to use his venue to ride out to and also Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance for their ongoing support for everything that we’re doing.”

Registration costs £10 per person and includes automatic entry into the grand raffle. Additional raffle tickets can also be purchased via the charity’s website for £5 each.
