Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) is committed to remaining fully operational 24/7 and is standing shoulder to shoulder alongside NHS colleagues in the fight against COVID-19. Thanks to the rapid response from the team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) and Medway NHS Foundation Trust, KSS has been able to secure vaccinations for its frontline team members. KSS is extremely grateful for this fantastic example of charity and NHS working in partnership in support of each other and our communities.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance assist in evacuating Covid-19 positive patients from the Isle of Wight to University Hospital Southampton

On Sunday 17 January, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) assisted in the transfer of a ventilated Covid-19 positive patient from St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight, to University Hospital Southampton (UHS), to relieve pressure in the hospital’s heavily stretched Intensive Care Unit.

In recognition of the significant contribution made by GoodSAM, Professor Mark Wilson and GoodSAM co-founder Ali Ghorbangholi both received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2020. On average, GoodSAM now deploys 10 checked volunteers every minute to support the NHS in its Covid-19 response.
