Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Makes Finalist Shortlist for National Legacy Giving Awards 2024

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s legacy giving team has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Free Will Service category of the upcoming National Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards 2024.

The pre-hospital emergency service has a small, dedicated team who look after gifts left by kind supporters in their Wills. Gifts in Wills, also known as legacies, fund four out of every ten missions carried out by Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

The charity’s Free Will Writing Service, which offers free Wills to those aged 50 and above, has been shortlisted for the Best Free Will Service award, which recognises and celebrates outstanding achievement and skill in the legacy sector.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Free Will Writing Service has been selected based on matching the criteria for Ambition, Excellence, Outcome, and attributing scores against a transparent system aimed at recognising and rewarding inspirational legacy teams and individuals.

Emma Wood, head of fundraising and engagement for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Our generous supporters who remember our charity by leaving a gift in their Will make a huge difference to our lifesaving service. Legacies account for around 40 per cent of our total income raised fundraising, meaning every gift makes a significant contribution to helping save lives in the Midlands region.

“I’m extremely proud of our team for being shortlisted as a finalist in these well-respected awards. It is a testament to the hard work that goes into providing our Free Will Writing Service alongside the commitment from our carefully selected partner solicitors from across the six counties we serve.”

Polly Avgherinos, managing director for Smee & Ford, added: “We extend our congratulations to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for its nomination in the Best Free Will Service category at the upcoming Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards. We eagerly anticipate their presence at the April ceremony, where we will come together to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable talent, dedication, and enthusiasm of individuals contributing to the field of legacies. Their impactful work on behalf of legators, charities, and beneficiaries deserves recognition and appreciation.”

The winners will be selected following a rigorous judging stage ahead of the Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards ceremony. The full list of nominees for the 2024 Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards can be found on Monday 5th February at: legacygivingawards.co.uk/finalists-2024
